Straight cash.

(As I told Mike on the phone, but everyone else might be interested) the dude who organized the contest called Canada Council for the Arts and got an artist development grant to use for prize money. So all 5 bands who played last night got a cash prize.

Sarah demands that I spend the money on music stuff. So I'm goin' drum kit shopping.

Yea, my wife is forever insisting that I spend big piles of cash on music stuff. Actually, I've got nothing to complain about; Judy is as supportive as possible when it comes to my musical "career."

But Dessorchichez, I think this is a sign that you have to use your power for good. You've got LOADS of talent, and it's about time the world knew about it. In the very least, the world needs the second Dessorchichez album. But you could be big.

And once you're big, I'm not going to like you anymore. Because, you know, you sold out.

Ya.... and if I didn't have to work at my crappy job I would have been five hundred dollars richer for supporting our fearless cohort. The band that won did a cover of a Tool song for their encore.

right then and there I was put out by the whole deal.

On a cooler note hopefully Dessorchichez et al and myself will jam on a more regular basis. That Kevin guy is one hell of a guitar player, not that Dessorchichez isn't but he is blessed to have some solid musicians in his circle. Good to see him and the rest of them. I'm shooting up in Collingwood, so I thought I should go and support him. Missed him playing, but in my opinion he really won since the top two bands were from Barrie. third place pretty awesome. way to go Dezzy.
