Case 1

If you're ever feeling a pain of any kind that persists for over a day, in your lower right abdomen, or even if it feels it's radiating out to the middle of the stomach, go to the Emergency Room.

--> My girlfriend had this pain that started on Sunday evening and had to have surgery last night: appendicitis. A CT scan plus an exam discovered this, but it all started with that right lower adomen pain and a fever of unknown origin. Surgery was about three hours ago. I'm still hoping everything went ok. Damn hospital doesn't tell you shit on the phone and I can't get in to see her til at least 1 pm.

Case 1 summary: don't fuck with appendicitis. Persistent lower right abomen pain coupled by vomiting, nausea, or fever probably means appendicitis. Get that little fucker removed, ASAP.

Update is all is well. Surgery effective, patient discharged last night and recovering at home. Bunny Wingman cooking up a storm of vegetables to provide leftovers and demanding that said patient spend the day resting and eating fiber-rich, soft veggies.

But if any of yer gerties feel that s-h-i-t, get checked out. Could be a life or death situation...

Case 2
There seems to be a little bump on my right temple. I think it's a benign tumor. Hmm. No headaches though and it doesn't seem to be growing. Has been there for a month...we'll see what they say after they remove it and analyze it.

Case 3

If ya notice a weird spot on yer cock, see the doc. (Not speaking from experience, just sayin... Wink

Case 4

Who's squeamish? Not me.

but i'm an ass. Here's why:

- decided i wanted to wear an old watch yesterday morning before work, but the battery is dead, pretty sure i have another battery, decided to open the watch to see what kind it uses
- get out a jacknife to pry the back off of the watch
- jacknife slips. side of my hand is in front of it
- i stab my hand with the jacknife, about a good half inch in and now have a deep puncture wound spurting dark red blood
- wash, bandage, go to work. the bleeding stops nicely
- later in the day, redness, swelling. feels like it wasn't cleaned good enough. It is a puncture wound and I hadn't flushed it out
- go home, get syringe. sterilize with rubbing alcohol 70%. load syringe with hydrogen peroxide, proceed to separate wound and inject peroxide into the puncture area. Seems to work well. felt better already. added antiseptic gel and anitbiotic lotion. went to sleep.
- get up today, doesn't look bad, surface cleaned it with peroxide, put ointments on, added band aid
- sitting here at work watching red patch of skin expand. Contemplating calling doctor for oral antibiotics or to come in and have wound professionally cleaned. Watching redness expand. When it reaches a particular freckle on the wrist, it's time to take action

And that's about where i'm at now. Redness hasn't gone further in the past couple hours. Keeping hand elevated at about neck level, except to type. The wound is in the meaty part of my left hand behind the thumb so I could still play guitar at the moment . . .

Thinking I ought to call it a day, go home and flush the wound again, this time with iodine AND peroxide, then put ointment on and no bandaid, then just sit and chill with arm elevated for the rest of afternoon. Then if it's still not good tomorrow, i'm goin' to the doc.

F'n old jacknife. Luckily i did have a tetanus shot only a few months ago.........

So, ya know, if I die of blood sepsis tonight, this'll be my chronicle. Publish that shit Razz

How old was that jackknife? When was the last time you had a tetanus shot?

ech! I've had a few punctures that got infected bad enough to send the spiral red trailer up my arm toward the heart....rumour has it that when that shit reaches the ol' ticker, game's up.

Just recently pulled a classic, stepped on a fuckin' nail while doing dock repairs at the cottage. Right up into the foot, about an inch....hurt like a MOFO. On Canada Day, no less. Had to drive back to eff'n town (1 1/2 hours) and find the only open clinic to get a tetnus shot. Had my totally sick sister with me, and ended up at the hsptal anyhow, where she was diag'd with pneumonia, after waiting 10 hours! Nice.

Hope that shit gets all fleshy coloured again, Rich. Smile
